We live in a world in which digital media and networking is not only pervasive but driving the global economy. There is little doubt that of all of the advanced applications areas in computing and IT, digital media and networking are at the forefront of technology change.

Both digital media, or more commonly multimedia, and networking define huge research spaces in themselves. But their intersection constitutes a focal point for future global economic growth and university scholarship.

Examples of this intersection are easy to identify as virtually every human endeavor in the information age involves interaction and inter-connectivity: digital advertising, distance education, distance health care, electronic commerce, network human interaction including electronic communities and computer assisted cooperative work, electronic games and gaming, and virtual reality, to name but a few. And each of these activities carries with it computer and network privacy and security issues. The UNLV Center for Cybersecurity Research is committed to push forward the frontiers in each of these areas.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Center is to perform world-class theoretical and experimental research in Cybersecurity, and to engage in innovation transfer to its stakeholders and affiliates in the University, private and public sectors.
